A spirit that accompanies St. Nicholas on his travels. He asks children if they can pray, and gives naughty children who can't disappointing presents like coal or sticks, gathered from deep in the mountains just before Christmas. But, these days, there are fewer and fewer naughty children, so, more often than not, Knecht Ruprecht is the one who ends up being disappointed.

He is known for the habit of asking children if they have been praying and if they said no, he would give them disappointing gifts such as lumps of coal. In order to help those who are unable to enjoy the celebration of Christmas for any reason to have a good time, he carried out a plan to invade the Tower of the Holy Tree. Despite his knack for saying things that would make others feel like a fool, he cares about the feelings of others more than anyone and is pure at heart. But due to his demeanor, few were able to truly appreciate his clumsy and awkward way of caring for others.
